Facebook can be used as a powerful campaigning and fundraising tool. You need to choose whether a Facebook Group or a Facebook Page is going to be best for your campaign. This blog post helps you choose, and shows you how to start a facebook page or group.

Facebook started for university students, and 'groups' were created for campus societies. As Facebook became more widely used, its users found increasingly creative uses for groups that went beyond their original purpose. Charities and grassroots activists started using groups as organising points for campaigning and fundraising. Facebook later created 'pages', specifically designed for use by corporate brands, charities and other organisations that want to have a presence on Facebook. Essentially, groups are better for small groups of people who want to co-ordinate with each other, and pages are better for presenting a public face for fundraising and campaigning.

Create a Facebook group

First, login to Facebook and navigate your way to create a group. The easiest way is to follow that link, as Facebook hide the page quite well.

Create a Facebook page

Again, login to Facebook but this time navigate your way to create a page. Again, Facebook hide the link pretty well, so it is easiest to just follow that link.
